1. Who we are
NorthPeak Tire Services Edmonton Ltd. (“we”, “us”) operates a tire shop at 10550-116 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5H 3L8. We are responsible for personal information under our control and have designated a Privacy Officer, reachable at northpeak
2. Laws that apply
As a private-sector organization in Alberta, we follow the Personal Information Protection Act (Alberta) (“PIPA”), overseen by the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (OIPC). Where personal information crosses provincial or national borders in the course of commercial activity, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”) may also apply. Our electronic marketing messages follow Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (“CASL”).
We will update this policy if the law changes.
3. What we collect
- Contact details — name, phone, e-mail, when you request a time slot or quote.
- Vehicle and tire details — year, make, model, tire size, plate number for storage labels, tread-depth readings.
- Service and payment records — invoices and payment confirmations (we do not store full card numbers).
- Website data — with your consent only, analytics data such as pages viewed and approximate location (see Cookies).
4. Why we use it
- To respond to booking requests, confirm appointments, perform services, and store and return your tires.
- To issue invoices, meet tax and accounting obligations (for example, GST records).
- To send seasonal reminders — only if you gave express consent.
- To improve our website — only if you accept analytics cookies.
We collect only what is reasonable for these purposes and use it only for the purposes we disclosed, or as permitted or required by law.
5. Consent
We rely on your consent, which may be express (for example, ticking a box) or implied where reasonable under PIPA. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions; we will explain any consequences.
6. Marketing e-mails and SMS reminders (CASL)
We send commercial electronic messages, such as seasonal changeover reminders, only to people who have given express consent or where implied consent exists under CASL (for example, an existing business relationship within the permitted period). Every message identifies NorthPeak Tire & Wheel, includes our mailing address and contact information, and has an unsubscribe mechanism that we honour within 10 business days. Reply STOP to any SMS to opt out.
7. Service providers and storage
We use service providers (for example, booking, e-mail and payment processors) bound by contract to protect your information. Some providers may store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to foreign authorities. You may contact our Privacy Officer for information about our policies on service providers outside Canada.
8. Retention and safeguards
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above and for legal requirements (for example, financial records), then securely destroy it. We protect it with physical, organizational and technical safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity.
9. Breach notification
If a privacy breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify the OIPC and affected individuals as required by PIPA (and, where applicable, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada under PIPEDA).
10. Your rights
You can request access to, or correction of, your personal information by writing to our Privacy Officer. We respond within 45 days as required by PIPA. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (oipc.ab.ca).
11. Cookies and similar technologies
Only strictly necessary storage is used by default: we save your cookie choice in your browser’s localStorage. Google Analytics (G-XXXXXXX) and marketing tags load only after you opt in. Google Consent Mode v2 is set to “denied” by default for analytics and advertising storage and is updated only by your choice.
